Yoho Wildlife Overpass

Yoho National Park, British Columbia

Structural Contractor

Located on the Trans Canada Highway, east of Golden British Columbia, sits one of the world’s largest precast concrete wildlife arch overpasses. The overpass has a clear span of 33m and covers 4 lanes of traffic and 2 merging lanes. In 2017, Eagle Builders was procured to design, manufacture and install one hundred 17m long x 6.5m tall half arches. Each piece weighed 27 metric tons and was installed intermittently while coordinating traffic safely beneath.

A one-of-a-kind tilt table and shoring structure were also required to be designed and built by Eagle Builders and our trusted engineering partners to rotate the robust arch shape and the slopes of the highway.

“This is the largest single span precast concrete wildlife arch crossing in the world.”

“Eagle Builders looked after everything from precast concrete engineering to on-site installation.”
