In 2018, Eagle Builders was awarded to produce (18) Alberta Transportation N.U girders for the new Deerfoot and 212 Avenue Interchange in South East Calgary. Timelines and accuracy were crucial components for the success of this project. Eagle Builders worked diligently to ensure the bridge girders were produced to the highest quality standards. Each girder spanned roughly 150 feet with a height of just under 8 feet. Each member used an average of 36 m³ of concrete for a total of 650 m³. The production timeline took Eagle Builders’ infrastructure division approximately two days to produce each girder, meeting the accelerated schedule set by the contractor.
As a CPCI/CPCQA B4 certified manufacturing plant, Eagle Builders is one of only a few qualified companies to produce prestressed deflected strand bridge members in Canada. With this certification, Eagle Builders was also engaged to assist in the new NU Girder Design and Detailing Manual for Alberta Transportation Version 1.0.
Each N.U. girder was approximately 150 feet in length.
