With a rapidly growing community of young families, the town of Blackfalds was missing a facility that would elevate the community and facilitate growth. The new Eagle Builders Centre is a hub for Blackfalds and surrounding communities to engage in activities. The addition to the previous multiplex includes a new arena, which is home to the AJHL Blackfalds Bulldogs, with a space for the team to train, recover, and relax. It also includes a new public library and public boardrooms.
The cutting-edge building utilized a variety of precast concrete elements that are as multifunctional as they are aesthetic. The clever design ensured that no space was wasted, and all aspects of the building were value engineered.
Eagle Builders optimized costs by utilizing load-bearing precast whenever possible to eliminate the need for columns, and because it was produced only 4 km from the site, this saved on delivery. Architectural and visual elements made of precast concrete were used to enliven the atmosphere.
Inside, you will find a black elevator shaft that features a dramatic formliner as well as a precast concrete block wall, which was achieved using a combination of techniques. The Eagle Builders Centre was built of the highest quality precast wall panels, columns, beams, bleachers & interior walls, creating a safe and durable place the community will enjoy for generations.
